Good news.  The 'mini-calendar component' has been updated to all allow filtering by Category.  This enhancement gives your members/web site visitors multiple, filtered (or a more narrow/less crowded) event/calendar 'view.'.  The materials are not yet complete, however the feature has been moved into production where we can complete the documentation in the Knowledge Base.

You can test / implement the Production pre-release at Main Dashboard >> Basic Settings >> Foundation Components >> Mini-Calendar >> Based on Event Type (or based on Event Category),

This will generate the code needed to 'Embed Media" using the Foundation Content Editor while editing your web pages.

NOTE:  You will see that it may be desirable to re-configure your event Type and event Category relationships in order that the categorization be aligned with your selection filters.  DO NOT DELETE existing types or categories.  This will 'break' the relationships the connect the events, to the categories, to the types.

Instead, rename existing Types and Categories (usually with an 'x-'), then add your new Types and Categories, then mass change the events to those Categories using the edit/this and all future date instances found in Events >> List Edit Recurring Events >> First Date >> All Future Dated Events for this Program.

This is a topic that will require FSS Professional Services / training / consulting service for most client implementations.  There is no cost for the enhanced functionality which is included in your software subscription, however the service required to harness these new capabilities do required paid services.
